Description
Looking at the pros and cons of disabling the onboard temperature sensors.
Resolution
Temperature sensors are distributed in different sections of the Solid State Drive (SSD), as different internal components may have different temperature limits.
The drive's temperature sensors affect the SSD thermal management mechanisms - such as thermal throttling - which is used to prevent the drive from going over its temperature limit or threshold.
Disabling motherboard temperature sensors will not affect SSD internal temperature sensors, which controls internal algorithms to reduce power consumption leaded to higher temperatures. The temperature impacts both performance, life of the drive and hard coded in the firmware of the drive.
There are multiple Power States
The operating temperature is 0 to 70 degrees Celsius, according to the device specification.
