Clear The Cache Of Solidigm™ (Formerly Intel®) QLC SSDs

Why And How To Clear The Cache Of A Solidigm QLC SSD

Summary

  • Solidigm™ (formerly Intel®) SSDs that have Quad-Level Cell (QLC) have a built-in cache, to boost their performance.
  • If such a drive is having performance issues, clearing this cache may help its performance.

Clearing the cache can be done with the GUI or CLI versions.

  • GUI will only let you clear the cache.
  • CLI will let you view stats about the cache, as well as start/stop clearing it.

Toolkit GUI

Although the cache-clearing feature is in the Fast Lane tab, it does not imply that Fast Lane is supported for every Solidigm™ Client QLC SSD.

  1. Launch the "Solidigm Synergy™ Toolkit".
  2. Locate the correct SSD, in the "Drives" tab.
  3. Select the "Fast Lane" tab.
  4. Click the "Clear Cache" button.
    • The button appears if supported.

Toolkit CLI

  1. Open the CLI as admin.
  2. Get the reference to the drive.
  3. Execute the command:
    • SynergyCLI.exe start-ssd # -performancebooster
    • Command returns complete, but can still be in process.
  1. To view the cache info, execute:
    • SynergyCLI.exe show -ssd # -performancebooster
  2. To stop the in-progress cache clearing, execute:
    • SynergyCLI.exe stop -ssd # -performancebooster
