Verify Current And Newer Firmware And Perform Updates

Summary

Solidigm provides three different tools to get the latest firmware for our products.

  • Solidigm Synergy Toolkit (Toolkit)
  • Solidigm Storage Tool (SST)
  • Solidigm Firmware Update Tool (SFUT)

Resolution

Solidigm Synergy Toolkit

The Solidigm Synergy™ Toolkit is focused on Solidigm Client NVMe* SSDs.

  1. Launch the "Solidigm Synergy™ Toolkit."
  2. Locate the desired drive in the Drives tab
  3. Select "Firmware Update" in the Solidigm dropdown.
    • Status declares:
      • Up to Date or Out of Date
    • 'Current Firmware' is what is currently on the SSD.
    • 'Status' is newer firmware, if different.
  4. The "Update" button appears if newer firmware is available
  • Click "Update", to update to the latest firmware.

Solidigm Storage Tool

The Solidigm™ Storage Tool is focused on SolidigmData Center SSDs.

The CLI is the expected use for users, which scripts to check and perform mass updates.

If your drives are behind a RAID card, you may have to remove them for updating. See SST Configuration for possible passthrough support.

SST: GUI

  1. Launch the "Solidigm™ Storage Tool."
  2. Select "Firmware Update" tab.
  3. Locate the desired drive.
    • 'Current Firmware' is what is currently on the SSD.
    • 'Latest Firmware' is newer firmware, if different.
  4. The update button appears if newer firmware is available.
    • Click "Update", to update to the latest firmware.

SST: CLI

  1. Open the CLI as admin. [Help]
  2. Get the reference to drive. [Help]
  3. Run the command:
    • sst load -ssd <ref>
  4. Read the warning message.
    • Type "Y", press "Enter" to proceed.

NOTE: Leaving the reference out will update all possible drives.

This tool's single use is to update the firmware of Solidigm SSDs outside an operating system. Getting it set up and booted is the hardest part.
